2014 has been another frickin’ brilliant year of photographing weddings, I’ve had the most fab couples again (lucky me!) and the overall highlights of my year were some of my best friends getting married too.
In February I whisked myself off to Paris for two Valentine’s engagement shoots and also ate lots of pomme frites and cheese – just to keep warm naturally. Don’t be fooled by how relaxed Louise looks in her 50s dresses – there was an entourage (well, of one!) following close behind with winter coats for in between locations.
… and then back to the UK for more engagement shoots throughout the year, from punting to painting or just a chilled walk with the kids – or the dog.
When the wedding day comes round, I love the anticipation and excitement of getting ready.
And THAT dress.
… and THOSE shoes.
The nervous ‘is she coming look’, followed quickly by the ‘thank f** she’s finally here & she looks unbelievably beautiful look’. (Modeled here by Shawn).
The exchange of rings.
The relief ‘when that bit’s over‘ and you can go down the beach and eat chips.
Or speed off to the reception venue in a cool getaway vehicle.
I love the stunning places I get to visit. And the really personal styling. And little surprises throughout the day (even the ones people have forgot to tell me and I’m like ‘oh crap, I’d best (steathily) peg it over there then’.)
When the confetti is awesome. (Hint: confetti rockets!)
And parting into the night. From guests dj-ing at Stick It On ( and the B&G of course), to the hey macarena, to a flash mob and Lebanese dancing.
No wonder you need to put your feet up.
Thanks for making it an amazing year, and I’m loving seeing my diary stack up with your exciting plans for engagement shoots and weddings in 2015. It looks like being an even more fabulous year if that’s possible.
Also in 2014..
I think it’s pretty damn cool to give some tantalising pics to your betrothed on the morning of your wedding, as if he or she isn’t gagging to see you see you walk down the aisle as it is, you brilliant, naughty (and very brave) people. I salute you. And I love taking these pics.
What I especially like is how everyone says they don’t like this bit or that bit of their body, and ‘you will airbrush won’t you?’ Well no, I won’t actually, as so far everyone’s loved their pics without any and that’s what makes it for me. I already know the person who’s getting the present is going to be over-the-moon-happy with the pics but if you are too (minus the digital cosmetic surgery) then job done.
Anyway, a peek is all you’re getting of these ones. Email me if you’re intrigued to find out about a shoot for yourself.
And lastly, while talking of gifts, check out some photos from my most recent shoot for Wedding in a Teacup.
It’s not just gifts, it’s a must-stop place for design and eco-savvy couples…everything is lovingly sourced to last way beyond that one day.
